The latest member of the Ford F-series—the most popular collection of vehicles in Canada—is notable not only for its wildly high performance, but its impressive off-roading capabilities. The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor marks the third generation of Raptors, which have been on the market since 2009. Inspired by the trophy trucks designed for Baja 1000 racing, the 2021 Raptor is intended to be a truck which can not only withstand a high amount of impact, but can travel through difficult terrain without a hitch.
Similar in appearance to a traditional F-150, but with a little extra bulk, it’s no surprise that adventure junkies are seeking out this vehicle for their transportation needs. Here’s a look at what the 2021 Raptor has in store.

If You’re in Automotive College, Check Out the Raptor’s Engine and Performance Specs

The 2021 F-150 Raptor is equipped with a twin-turbo, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V-6 engine. This engine delivers an estimated horsepower of 450, with 510 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor’s engine also features a unique 3.0 inch exhaust system design, intended to reduce emissions while improving performance. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the 2021 Raptor can tow more than previous iterations of this vehicle, with a maximum payload of 1400 pounds and a conventional tow rating of 8200 pounds.
Students in automotive college will also be interested to know that Ford’s Terrain Management System is included in the Raptor. This system enables drivers to choose from seven different modes on the Raptor, including Sport, Baja, Rock Crawl, Quiet mode, and Normal. When off-roading, drivers can opt for Trail Control—a low-speed cruise control designed for navigating difficult terrain, simply by pressing a button.

A Look at the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor’s Design and Suspension

The 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is a truck designed to be able to withstand some impact, a goal which is reflected in its suspension and design. The Raptor is designed to resemble the F-22 fighter jet, with a large grille and Ford logo, large air ducts along the fenders, and defined skid plates. The Raptor also comes with three different wheel choices thanks to a new chassis. One of the featured options is an impressive set of 37-inch tires to allow for maximum impact and clearance.
In addition to a design upgrade, the 2021 Raptor also features a five-link, coil-sprung rear suspension. This suspension replaces the leaf springs formerly standard in Raptor models, and allows the 2021 model to have faster acceleration, improved throttle responsiveness, and all around better handling and traction. With this improved suspension system, mechanic school graduates can rest assured that the Raptor is capable of handling all kinds of conditions and terrain.

Infotainment and Special Features on the Interior

Inside the 2021 Raptor, drivers can choose from three different trim levels. Base models feature fabric seats, leather bolsters, and a carbon fibre weave, while the High Series models have suede seat inserts. The Accent Series, the Raptor’s highest trim level, offers blue leather upholstery with orange stitching. The Raptor also comes with a standard 12.0 inch touchscreen through which passengers can access the infotainment system. The Raptor comes with under seat storage in the back—and as for safety features, drivers have access to blind-spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, and lane-departure warning.
If you’re impressed by the 2021 Raptor, you’ll want to look out for the Ford Raptor R. Arriving in 2022, this high performance vehicle will be equipped with a V-8 engine that’s said to be able to deliver over 700 horsepower and around 625 lb-ft of torque. Don’t miss this monster of a truck when it debuts next year!
