Workplace Safety and
Transportation Classes
Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB)
Part 1 Certification Training - 3 days
Workplace safety is an important part of any successful business –
safe work environments not only prevent injuries, they can contribute
to the overall productivity of a company. CATI can offer your company
cost-effective solutions to your safety and compliance concerns.
CATI is now certified by the Education Safety Association of Ontario (ESAO)
to deliver the 3-day PART ONE WSIB Certification. WSIB Part One training
is one of the most comprehensive health & safety programs available. Using the standard 3-day
WSIB format, the CATI program addresses industry-specific safety concerns,
including:
-
Identifying potential health and safety hazards in the repair shop,
office, parts departments, trailer yards as well as service areas
and dock areas
-
Auditing facilities in order to recognize areas of non-compliance
where employees, drivers or office administrators may be unaware of
hazards
-
Conducting safety interviews with employees using trained listening
and interpretation skills
-
Establishing a Joint Health and Safety Committee or program
-
Educating others on safe practices in the workplace
-
Chairing Health and Safety Committee meetings
We’ll also inform students about how to complete the Part 2 training.
Following the training program students receive a CATI certificate and
will be granted Part One Certification upon successful completion of
WSIB administered testing. Included is an overview of the Canada Labour
Code Part II for Federally regulated companies.
Hours of Service (HOS) - 1/2 day
Always in touch with the latest industry news, CATI provides compliance
training focused on the most recent regulatory mandates affecting the
transportation industry. Recently, the Canadian trucking industry, along
with governmental partners, created policies impacting the maximum on-duty
and behind-the-wheel work time for drivers. The new Hours of Service rules
are designed to improve inter-provincial commercial vehicle operations
by ensuring the safety of truck and bus drivers, and, ultimately, our
highways. It is important that both drivers and dispatchers are up-to-date
on their knowledge and application of the new regulation. Our 1/2 day certificate
program will ensure your staff is prepared to be in full compliance with
HOS regulations.
We can offer this certificate program either at your facility or our campus.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) / Clear Language Regulations -
1/2 day
The Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations that came into
effect in 1985 were repealed as of August 15, 2002, when the Clear Language
Regulations came into effect. CATI delivers an in-depth review of the
Clear Language Regulations program to help you ensure your staff meets
all current compliance requirements. This is invaluable training for your
staff and it can be delivered either at your facility or our campus.
WHMIS Training - 1/2 day
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is the national
standard for communicating about hazardous materials in the workplace.
In this program, we’ll educate your staff on the effective
labeling of workplace hazards and how to identify hazardous materials
such as compressed gas, flammable and combustible material, oxidizing
material, poisonous and infectious material, corrosive material and dangerously
reactive material.
Load Securement - 1 day
How a load is secured is critical to the safety of the vehicle and the
driver. Failure to comply with regulations could not only result in huge
fines for the company, but could also jeopardize the safety of our highways.
In this 1-day course, we examine the key components of securing a load,
including anchor points, tie-downs, blocking and friction. We’ll
review industry standards and regulations governing load securement, as
well as the Ontario Ministry of Transportation enforcement policies, so
your employees will have a strong understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
